Frequently Asked Questions

What Is MindRight and how does it work?

MindRight Health provides daily coaching and support over text message for people who want to talk, judgment free. Coaches are trained to help young adults build skills to manage emotions, life changes, and stress.

Each day you are scheduled, a MindRight coach will check in with you over text message. You can then talk about anything you're going through, both positives and negatives. You get a team of coaches who stick with you over time, so they get to know you and work together to help you reach your goals in life.

What if I want to talk on the phone and not text?

We know that sometimes it is easier or more comfortable to talk to your coach over the phone. Our service is only through text message to provide more of a safer space for our members.

Is It free?

MindRight is fully covered by Amerihealth Caritas DC health insurance. So there is no cost to you as long as you remain a member with Amerihealth. If you switch to a different insurance or lose coverage, it may impact your eligibility to use MindRight.

Are coaches like therapists?

Although they are not therapists, coaches are extensively trained in culturally responsive mental health support and are supervised by licensed clinicians. Our coaches come from diverse backgrounds, all across the country. Some are young professionals, former teachers, community members, and social work graduate students. Each member is matched to a team of 2 coaches who support you throughout the week.

What can a coach support me with?

Our coaches love to hear about you-- whether it’s struggles or good news, sharing an interest or casual chit-chat-- we’re here for you and whatever suits your needs. Many of our members talk to us about stress, family, school, trauma, relationships, grief, or personal goals. If you’re not sure what to talk about, that’s okay! You can always let the coach know and they’ll take the lead in the conversation. If something comes up that you definitely want to talk about, just let them know and they’ll be happy to talk about that too.

There are some things that our coaches cannot provide support with such as substance abuse, addictions, or other challenges that require clinical or physical/medical care. However, we won’t leave you hanging, we’ll work together with you to connect you to these resources.

Are you going to tell anyone what we talk about?

Nope. Everything we discuss is confidential and only team members of MindRight have access to these conversations. The only time we would have to break this is in the case of an emergency or if we feel your safety or someone else’s safety was at risk. If this does occur, we’ll work together with you.
